AB1 butts are entirely made of high quality unidirectional carbon fibre, 100% structured in layers that give high resistance to impacts and foreseen loads.
The geometry is obtained in a die with a special autoclave cycle in order to grant the best performance. The head and tail coupling zones are produced in AL7075 (Aeronautic aluminium alloy) by means of CNC, an alloy that maintains lightness coupled with a mechanical resistance equal to 88 steel. Structural adhesives are used in order to make the whole body one: they guarantee higher resistance to the composite materials thank to particular firing cycles. The AL7075 parts are protected by an anodic treatment and anano-ceramic coating that enhance even more the mechanical properties. The carbon parts are protected by a specific painting cycle. These protections make the butt virtually impervious to marine stress corrosion cracking.
